Personality: While Romano can be a short tempered, foul mouthed , lazy teenager, he deep down is an overall good person.

He learned his lesson after his first year of getting held back that he wasn't going to be able to just breeze by considering how magic very clearly did not come as naturally to him as it did for his brother and made things quite difficult, so he actually started to amp up his studies. He can be an extremely intelligent student when it comes to the academic side of things, rivaling that of even the top in his class. While his grades improved immensely, his habit of procrastinating never really went away. There's just times he doesn't feel like putting so much effort into work when he could do something he enjoys so much more, such as sleeping, eating or going with with friends (the few ones that he has). He's become a pretty average student, but if he likes the class enough or has motivation he'll put more effort into it to do his very best.

He's the kind who tends to talk back to teachers if they bug him enough, something which often gets him a detention. However he mostly does this with male teachers and tends to be kinder to his female teachers, even sweet talking his way out of things he should get major punishment for.

Those he cares about are far and few in between but when he truly makes a connection, he would go to the ends of the Earth for that person to make sure that they're okay, even though he might not admit it openly on his own. That being said, his closest bond is with his brother. They constantly pick petty fights just like regular siblings do, but if someone else even dared to make an attempt to hurt his brother in any way, he'd hunt them down and make them pay the price. He constantly watches over his brother and tries to take care of him the best that he can since it's just them on their own for the most part. While he does enjoy flirting with girls when he gets the chance, overall he's a bit of a loner and doesn't interact with very many people unless the situation calls for it, he'd rather spend time with himself or a handful of people rather than a large crowd. It can be a bit of a struggle for him to make friends at times.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Lovino was born into a wealthy pureblood family filled with extremely skilled and accomplished wizards and witches. His brother ( Feliciano) being two years younger than him already was doing simple spells before he could even talk when they were growing up. Unfortunately for Lovino he was the most delayed out of his entire family's history for ever showing skill in magic, so much so that he was sent away when he was two and a half years old to live with a different family for a temporary amount of time to see if they could help him expose any magical skill he might posses. The only time he got to see his family for years was at holidays so he had a very strained relationship, especially since he had almost always come back with news that he had not advanced at all magically. He was around nine when he used magic for the first time with his other family. However his first time wasn't exactly... the most joyous experience either. He had over heard three his maids gossip in the kitchen one day when he had come back in after playing to get some juice after he finished playing about how there was no hope for him to learn magic and how ashamed his entire family probably felt that he was a squib and what were they do with such an outcast son. He had already been picked on so much all his life by all the other children and talked down to by all of the other adults that he just snapped. He ended up sending a glass vase flying across the room nearly hitting the maids.

Once he began showing more skill with magic he moved back in with his real family. However his parents were always away on business leaving him in the care of his grandfather most of the time, even then it was obvious he favored Feliciano for his talent. Feliciano and him had not spent some of the earliest crucial years together growing up, so their relationship went through a lot of bumps till things settled down. While Feliciano always cared deeply for him, he did prefer to spend his time at first with his other friends at first because he thought they were so much cooler and also because he has already made a pretty good group of friends in his brothers absence. Lovinio went through a stage of being so jealous of him when they were younger he actually hated him a bit. Feliciano and Lovino grew out of the phase for the most part and while they do to this day constantly bicker, their relationship has improved a lot and they really do care deeply for each other. While he wasn't as advanced in magic and was often ridiculed because of it, Feliciano didn't treat him with any disdain because of it like the many of his family and many of the other children they knew. None of the other children ever wanted to be friends with him and were only kind in the presence of adults. It wasn't uncommon for them to play tricks or pick on him, leading him to be very hesitant to make very many friends and made him quite the loner.

Lovino was held back his first year due to the fact he was just overall awful at magic, he really did try at first but he just got so frustrated he just quit halfway through. He got made fun of heavily by the other students for being held back the next year, so he started to actually apply himself in school to prove everyone else wrong. He started applying himself to his studies and staying up late at night to practice what he had gone over in class, even if it was simple things so he could be caught up to speed with everyone else. He stays up late while most if not all people are sleeping so that way no one has to see him fail multiple times over, though sometimes he tends to fall asleep during the day from staying up. The more he practiced the better he got at learning magic in general, he has come a long way since he started and while he is still not as talented as his brother he has made great improvement.

As far as classes goes, he's quite fond of Care of Magical Creatures, he likes being in the presence of other animals because he feels like they don't judge him the way people do. He's fond of flying as well as he feels like it gives him a sense of freedom. Potions and transfiguration are some of his most difficult classes as there is very little room for error and he can get a bit impatient.
